The movie Manorama Six Feet Under, directed by Avinash Arjun, is a south Indian crime drama released in Chennai on September 14, 2013. The film is inspired by the 2009 murder of Soni Sori and the political backlash against her death. It revolves around an investigating officer who goes undercover to identify her assailants, only to find herself being targeted herself by some of the people she's trying to bring down. The award ceremony was held at Thyagarajaswamy Stadium, Chennai on 31 March 2014. Music was composed by Adithyan and lyrics by Na.Muthukumar and Kaveesan. The song composed by Muthukumar called "Kalyanam Vellai Koothi" was released on 5 May 2013 and was received positively.

Avinash Arjun won "Best Director" award at 64th National Film Awards for this film, thanks to which he started directing Tamil films. And the movie has also had positive reviews online too. On 21 August 2014, Manorama Six Feet Under had become one of the highest grossing Tamil films among all languages on Box Office India, earning around . The soundtrack was composed by Adithyan. The album released on 5 May 2013 had two songs, "Kalyanam Vellai Koothi", the title track being sung by Saindhavi Govindarajan featuring music director Ramana Gogula along with her. The album received positive reviews from critics. Behindwood stated that "the lyrics of both tracks are meaningful and the songs are melancholy, but has a distinct feel of them being an extension of Manorama".
